Topic: Pool in England

I would like to announce that a 24hr Pool Marathon is now scheduled for Friday 21st of April 2006, and the Exhibition match between Darren Appleton and Rob McKenna will be on Saturday 22nd April 2006.

I am currently looking for sponsors for both events, any company willing to help and any players wanting to participate in the 24hr pool, please contact Simon Evans (Beverley). The cost to enter the event is £10, and will receive sponsorship forms. Anyone wishing to come down and watch either or both events will be charged £3.50 or £2.50 with a ticket. Please be aware that this event has already generated a huge amount of attention, so we have had to cap the number of players in the 24hr marathon to 50.

After only a week, all the local papers are interested in the story, as is a national newspaper. All companies willing to offer any assistance with raffle prizes will be mentioned on uk8ball.com website. Any sponsor will be listed in ALL publications (eg - John Smith’s Exhibition Match, TitanPoker.Com 24hr Pool Marathon.

The 24hr pool marathon will commence at 7.30pm on the Friday evening and the scheduled start of the exhibition match is 8.00pm on the Saturday evening both to be played at the 'POOL ROOM' in Cottingham ,near Hull.
The marathon to be played on 8 supreme tables and the exhibition match linked to a large screen in the venue so everyone will be able to see the action...

Each player will receive a medal for their participation, with the top 3 players each receiving a trophy. Presentations/photo’s etc will conclude the event after the exhibition match.

Everything raised is for a man called Robert Hodgson (Elloughton) who suffers with MS, and is seeking to raise £12,000 for radicaal stem cell treatment in Holland (Not available in the UK). Multiple sclerosis attacks the nervous system, causing loss of balance, reduced vision and localised paralysis. However people within 10 minutes of this treatment can get out their wheelchair and walk. Below are 2 links to related stories on stem cell treatment.

THANKS ROB AND DAZ !!!!!

I would personally like to thank Rob McKenna, and Darren Appleton who have both agreed to take time out of their busy schedule to come down and do an exhibition for free, no questions asked. When I spoke to Robert Hodgson’s wife she was in tears, as was Robert himself. This event potentially has the capability of getting him his treatment and therefore changing a persons life for the better.
