PRESS RELEASE
University Pool Competitions Season 2005-2006
The Universities Pool Council is pleased to announce the details of its programme for the coming season with competitions to decide the champions at individual, team and representative level.
This season’s Eight-ball Championships are recognised by the British Universities Sports Association following work done in the off-season by the UPC and is a further boost for the sport at this level.
The action gets underway on the weekend of the 2-4 December with the National University Nine-ball Championships. The Eight-ball Championships begin with qualifying on 11th February followed by the finals weekend 24-26 February where much attention will be focussed on Nottingham University’s Paul Edwards to see if anyone can unseat the two times Individual Champion. The Women’s Eight-ball Championships wrap up the team and individual competitions on 24-25 March.
Attention then switches to the representative level with Welsh Universities out to defend the Home Nations title they won in such stunning fashion last year. This year they are on home soil and the action takes place on the 21-22 April.
